GAME FACTSHEET
ABOUT THE GAME
WARNING:Do not explore ancient caves. You may get cursed. Well… that's what happened to your friend. He's still alive, but he turned into a ball. You must Roll 'em Out of the cave — because if you don't, the cave will collapse. What? That's how curses work.
Roll 'em Out is an indie adventure game best experienced when played with friends. You set out on an expedition to an ancient cave, but your friend was cursed when he accidentally activated an ancient relic. He didn't die — he was transformed into a bouncy ball. You (and your friends) must Roll 'em Out of the cave to save him and break the curse. Otherwise, the very cave will collapse.
The game is built around chaotic teamwork: pushing, pulling, slapping, and arguing your way through confusing mazes and varied biomes while keeping a cursed friend alive and out of the mouths of hungry creatures. Inspired by the recent wave of physics-driven co-op games like Peak, Lethal Company, and RV There Yet?, Roll 'em Out trades horror and tension for absurd comedy and slap-fueled misadventure.
KEY FEATURES
- 01
Solo or Co-op
Play alone or with up to 4 players. 4-player co-op is the recommended way to experience Roll ’em Out. Push and pull the ball to guide it through confusing mazes and varied biomes.
- 02
The Ball is Alive
Your friend may have become a ball, but he’s still alive. Feed him to keep him that way. Plenty of creatures would love to swallow him like a boiled egg. Don’t let them eat him — which is tricky, because he’s so damn bouncy. The fact that the cave will collapse if he gets too far away makes it worse.
- 03
Slap-tastic
Two dedicated slap buttons. Be Slaphappy. Want to guide the ball? Slap ’em. Is your friend on fire? Slap ’em. Want to stun your enemies? Slap ’em. Your friends being dicks? Slap ’em. Slaps can both start and end all problems.
- 04
Push or Pull
Push the ball using slaps, sprint kicks, and charged momentum. Use your hook to pull it back when it bounces away. Many tools can be used for this. Staying in range is key.
- 05
Dangers Everywhere
Creatures of all manner stand in your way — carnivorous plants, snakes, and more. And of course, your lack of teamwork. Trust me, that’s the biggest danger of all. Either way, slaps fix things.
ABOUT THE STUDIO
Shortgun Games is an indie studio based in Thane, India. Founded in 2022, we began with Web3 and mobile games, working in client servicing and third-party development capacities, before pivoting to PC and console development in 2024.
Our true passion lies in creating mechanically fun social experiences and deep, narrative-driven games. This led to the birth of Project Takedown, our flagship title currently in development.
By mid-2024, we realised that achieving our ambitious vision for Project Takedown would require us to grow significantly — in personnel, in skill, and in shipping experience. We develop our games in Unreal Engine, and finding skilled talent for it in India remains a challenge.
This led us to make some difficult decisions about scope, direction, and team composition. Rather than push Project Takedown forward prematurely, we chose to pivot to a smaller project first — one that would let us build the systems, processes, and shipping cadence that larger studios have mastered.
That project became Project 50D — a challenge to ourselves: build something simple, mechanically tight, and genuinely fun, in a short timeframe. Project 50D is now Roll 'em Out.
We want to establish Shortgun Games as a studio with a consistent lineup of titles — ranging from AA cinematic experiences to experimental indie projects. Over the coming years, we plan to ship a number of games and build a portfolio of original IPs and franchises, all leading up to our true ambition: Project Takedown.
